M, Mirzaei M, Afshari MH., Effect
of live and cultured yeast supplement on skeletal growth, weaning and final
weights in Holstein calves, Onl J Vet Res., 25 (6): 408-411, 2021. We report
effects of live or cultured yeasts skeletal
growth, weaning and final weights in Holstein calves. Groups of 12 female
calves each were supplemented 4g/d live or cultured yeasts from 3 to 72 days
age and weaned at 50 days. Controls were not supplemented. To determine
skeletal growth we measured height (cm) from withers, hip from pelvic bulge to
end of hoof, pelvic bone width, body length from last cervical vertebra to 1st
caudal vertebra, chest circumference and abdominal depth at 3, 35 and 72 days by
celsius meter rating. We found no significant
differences between controls and calves given live or cultured yeasts for any
measurement.
