ABSTRACT.
Selk
Ghaffari M, Dezfoulian O, Masoudifard M, Marjani M Concurrent metaplastic ossification of paraprostatic cyst and sertoli
cell tumor in a German shepherd dog, Onl J Vet Res., 12 (1) :41-40, 2008. A 9–year–old male German shepherd
dog was presented with a 2-month history of progressive straining during
defecation, and intermittent sanguineous penile discharge. Based on plain and
contrast radiographs, a provisional diagnosis of paraprostatic
cyst was made. Upon laparatomy,
a large cystic mass was found lateral and ventral to the bladder. Castration and surgical excision of the mass was
performed. Histopathologic examination of
specimens obtained following the surgery confirmed an exceptional finding of bone
metaplasia in paraprostatic cyst and sertoli cell tumor. Although osseous metaplasia has been
reported in paraprostatic cyst, to our knowledge,
concurrent osseous metaplasia in sertoli cell tumor
and paraprostatic cyst have not been described.
