A., Rare vaginal prolapse and its
management in a bitch, Onl J Vet Res., 27 (11): 623-628, 2023. Prolapse of vaginal mucosa from vulva as vaginal hyperplasia
in pro-estrus
and estrus is common but complete vaginal prolapse is rare. We report true
vaginal prolapse in an 8-year-old large breed bitch recurrent for months recently
becoming persistent. Our case was treated by ovariohysterectomy and vaginopexy. There was a mild pyometra
in uterus. Incision on the removed uterus revealed dried pine leaves foreign
bodies amongst pyometra. Although the primary cause remained
unclear (ie:vaginal prolapse
Vs. pyometra), complicating situations should be
taken into account when dealing with similar cases.
Key Words: Prolapse, Vagina, canine.
