ABSTRACT
Reche Jr A, Chalita MCC, Taranti L, Prosser
CS Prednisone for treatment of cholangiohepatitis
in cats, Onl J Vet Res 11 (1) : 46-53, 2007. Clinical and hepatic enzymes in 6 cats with histological
diagnosis of lymphocytic-plasmacytic cholangiohepatitis were determined before, during and after
treatment with prednisone. The steroid provided clinical and laboratory improvement
in all cats but follow-up showed an elevation on serum hepatic enzymes without
clinical signs. Prednisone appears to be an effective drug to control cholangiohepatitis but patients should be constantly
evaluated for effective long-term control.
Key words: lymphocytic-plasmacytic
cholangiohepatitis; prednisone; cat.
