REVIEWERS SUMMARY STATEMENT

This paper addresses a real public health problem that was not obvious until the authors reported part of this work in 2002 especially in relation to banned substances in athletes. This additional data reinforces those findings and should be made available to the public preferably in English as distinct to Dutch. The findings in one animal are justified (ie "case report") due to the implications for human health. The introduction is throughout and well referenced, reporting most of the relevant facts plus the previous work. the clinical, anatomical and biochemistry findings support the conclusions. A reference or justification for the "Chemical analysis" could have been reported here. The images are of a high quality and the presentation of results are acceptable. In conclusion the findings support the conclusions in the Discussion.  This paper should be published as is. Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to review this work PM
