ABSTRACT

Khajeh A,  Rezaei A, Imani H., Primary ovarian leiomyosarcoma in a racing Pigeon (Columba livia), Onl J Vet Res., 19(12): 785-789, 2015. An 8 year old female racing pigeon weighing 600g presented with lethargy, anorexia and a firm mass inside the abdominal cavity. Lateral view of radiograph showed a soft tissue density in caudal part of abdominal cavity without border pushing the gizzard to the cranial part of abdomen. Microscopic examination revealed a large non-encapsulated mass in ovarian tissue with small foci of smooth muscle proliferation. The findings suggest a diagnosis of ovarian leiomyosarcoma in a pigeon.
