ABSTRACT

Mahdi AK, Ahmed AL-Bayati HF., Ultrasonographic evaluation of bovine pericardium and urinary bladder a-cellular matrixes for repair of abdominal hernia in goats, Onl J Vet Res., 22 (3):229-236, 2018. We report effect of de-celled bovine pericardium (BPM) and urinary bladder (UBM) matrixes on healing of hernias in goats. A-cellular matrices were used to prevent rejection. Lateral abdominal wall 8 x 10cm hernias were induced in two groups of 12 bucks each, implanted 4 weeks later with BPM or UBM matrices. Ultrasonography was used to assess healing and reconstruction of hernial defect every 2 weeks for 16th weeks. We found increased echogenicity at hernias with loss of hernial ring and subcutaneous dead spaces especially in the animals implanted with UBM matrix.
