ABSTRACT
AL-Kayat F, AL-Zuhairy MA, Kawan MH., Effect of ozone
on survival of Giardia duodenalis cysts, Onl J
Vet Res., 26 (6): 422-428, 2022. We report effect of ozone disinfectant
on Giardia duodenalis cysts with dechlorinated
water at 25șC and pH 8.2. Viability
of cysts was determined by vital stain Eosine Y. Ozone
was bubbled at 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2 mg/L with 2x104cyst/ml for 1, 3, 5 and 10 minutes Ozone was then removed by 10% sodium
thiosulfate. Cysts viability was measured by hemocytometer stained with Eosin Y
under 40X lens. Results showed thaty
0.,05 ozone only killed 12-36% 1.0 12 to 80% ans 2 90
100% from 1 to 10 min exposure (P < 0.05).
