ABSTRACT

Abbasvali M, Koutamehr ME, Moshtaghi H, Eskandari MH., Effect of olive leaf extracts on Salmonella typhimurium, Onl J Vet Res., 19(9): 632-641, 2015.    Activity of acetonic, ethanolic and methanolic leaf extracts of olive cultivars against Salmonella Typhimurium determined by broth micro-dilution assay are described. Area under growth curves were compared with controls and expressed as percentages. Acetonic and methanolic extracts of Roghani and Dezfol cultivars with 10 mg/ml had ~90% inhibition and 20 mg/ml >90%.  Acetonic olive leaf extract of Roghani cultivar showed most inhibition. Results suggested that olive leaves may have antibacterial properties.

Key words: Salmonella Typhimurium, Olive leaf extracts .
