ABSTRACT
Mohammed AS, Abd-Al-Shaheed
D., Prevalence of Mycoplasma gallisepticum in poultry from Iraq, Onl J Vet Res., 25 (7):459-464, 2021. We
report prevalence of Mycoplasma gallisepticum
in 200 broilers and chickens presented with respiratory symptoms at various
veterinary clinics (Iraq) during Winter 2020. Samples
of trachea, air sac, lung, nasal discharge, cloaca, cleft and oviduct samples
were cultured in PPLO media and broth. We found overall prevalence of 9% with
~15% in air sac, ~10% in trachea, nasal swabs and oviduct but only ~5% in lung
tissue and none in cloaca. Mycoplasma
on PPLO agar appeared as typical fried egg colonies by Diene’s stain.
