ABSTRACT
Younis ZH, Abedsalih AN., Effect of Moringa oleifera leaf extract on Haemonchus contortus, Onl J Vet Res., 23 (7):679-687, 2019. Authors
describe effect of an alcoholic extract of Moringa oleifera leaves on growth of eggs and larvae of Haemonchus contortus in vitro. Adult
worms from sheep abomasa were crushed for eggs and 3rd stage infective larvae exposed to 25 or 50mg/ml M. oleifera. Controls were
exposed to 30mg/ml levozan or not treated. Compared with water controls our results suggested that ethanolic Moringa oleifera leaf
extract and standard Levozan prevented 100% eclosion of H contortus eggs in vitro. We found that 25 or 50 mg/mL M oleifera extracts
killed 97-98% 3rd stage infective H contortus larvae in vitro. This was less than levozan which eliminated 100% larva.
Key words: Moringa. Oleifera, Haemonchus contortus, larvae, eggs. Raw data provided.
