ABSTRACT
Sayadia F, Hashemniab M, Rezaeib F, Azadbakhta M, Pouyania NR., Concurrent esocoelium
monas and Hyalomma spp. infection in Acanthodactylus nilsoni, Onl J Vet Res., 18(4): 364-368, 2014. Reptiles carry
diseases which spread to other animals. Many factors suppress immune response
in reptiles and increase the opportunity for bacteria, viruses, yeast and
funguses to cause infections and consequent diseases. Remarkably little data are available on the impact of reptilian
parasites on their primary hosts, reptiles. Nilson’s spiny-toed
lizard (Sauria: Lacertidae) is endemic to western Iran.
Although some morphological
and biological characteristics of
this species were described previously,
there is no document describing parasitic diseases in this species. The aim
of this report is to describe the concurrent infection of Mesocoelium monas
and Hyalomma spp. in Nilson’s spiny-toed lizard possibly for the first time.
Key words.
Reptiles Hyalomma spp, Mesocoelium monas.
