Designing of drug for
removal of methylation from Tcf21 gene in lung cancer

Gupta SK, Singh A, Srivastava
M, Designing of drug for removal of methylation from
Tcf21 gene in lung cancer, Online J Bioinformatics, 11 (1):149-155,
2009. Tcf21 is a specific tumor
suppressor gene associated with lung cancer. This gene is inactivated because
of CpG hypermethylation of
the promoter region. Removal/inhibition of methylation
could prevent metastasis. This work describes DNA-ligand
docking for removal of methylation. Computational
approaches were used to dock drugs with methylated
DNA to remove methylation by converting 5-methyl
cytosine into cytosine. The in-silico docking
results showed that decitabine, a DNA binding drug,
could remove methylation.
