Kumar Roy B, Disposition of levofloxacin in normal and mastitic goats., Onl J Vet
Res., 28
(8): 497-504, 2024. Two groups of six 14-20kg, 2-2.5 year Bengal goats
with or without mastitis (controls) were injected single 10mg/kg intravenous levoflaxin. Mastitis
was induced by inoculum of coagulase positive Staphylococcus aureus. Compared
with controls, mastitis boosted (P < 0.05) levofloxacin urine clearance 24h,
plasma half-life 22% and white blood cells ~44% but did not affect body clearance, blood
urea, hematology nor creatinine.
Key words: Urine kinetics; Levofloxacin; Goats; Mastitis; I.V.; Nephrotoxicity.
