ABSTRACT
Mottaghian P, Moghaddam
MF, Mousakhani F, Amarloie
OA., In vitro Lactococcus
lactis PTCC 1403 versus standard antibiotic
inhibition of bovine mastitis pathogens. Online J Vet Res., 16 (2):88-95, 2012. Antagonism
of L. lactis PTCC
1403 was evaluated by agar spot test against contagious and environmental
mastitis pathogen strains isolated from milk from cows with mastitis and
compared with that of commonly used antibiotics. L.
lactis PTCC 1403 produced
inhibition of all pathogenic strains particularly against Pseudomonas
aeroginosa and Arcanobacterium
pyogenes with average inhibition zones of 15.2 mm and 14.8
mm respectively. Environmental mastitis pathogens were more susceptible to
inhibitory effects of L. lactis
PTCC 1403 than contagious mastitis pathogens.
