ABSTRACT

Lone BA,  Chishti MZ, Ahmad F, Tak H., Detection of Oesophagostonum columbianum in goats by indirect Elisa, Onl J Vet Res., 29 (1): 1-6, 2025. We report seroprevalence of anti- Oesophagostomum columbianum antibodies in 198 goats. ELISA was standardized to detect somatic whole adult antigen of Oesophagostomum columbianum. Plate ELISA was standardized in 5µg/well antigen with 1:100 and 1:1000 sera conjugate dilution.  Suspect field sera by ELISA yielded 68 (34.34%) and 12 by fecal examination. Highest prevalence 52% occurred in goats <1 yearcompared with >4 years with 17% (P < 0.03). Gender was not related with infection Sensitivity of ELISA was ~80% and specificity ~21%, whereas fecal tests yielded only 11 and 90%, respectively.

KEY-WORDS: ELISA, Oesophagostomum columbianum, Goat, Somatic antigen.
