on resistant Staphylococcus Aureus in volunteers, Onl
J Vet Res., 28 (12):
817-821, 2024. Antibacterial activity of husk of Cocos nucifera Linn alcoholic extract against Methicillin Resistance Staphylococcus
Aureus (MRSA) was isolated from 9 volunteers and verified by VITEK. However,
3 volunteers samples were deemed to be non-MRSA. Fibrous
husks of Cocos nucifera were powered
extracted in 70% ethanol. For comparison with extract, antibiotic disks were
spread on agar for Gentamicine, Tetracycline,
Cefotaxime, Ceftriaxone, Ampicilin, Oxacilin, Chloramphenicol, Clavulanate
and Amoxicillin (AMX) minimum inhibitory concentrations. We found extract exhibited
effective MIC and MBC values at 100 and 50 mg/ml for all discs.
Keywords: Antibiotics,
Cocos nucifera,
resistant S. aureus.
