ABSTRACT

Karagiannis G, Karittevlis D, Stergidou M, Diaouris X, Eosinophilic granuloma in the lower surface of the tongue of a cat, Onl J Vet Res., 12 (2) : 9-13, 2008. A 1.5 year-old, domestic, short haired, neutered, male cat with a recent history of otodectic mange was brought to a private clinic. The owner had complained about the existence of several nodules in the lower surface of the tongue. Routine laboratory investigation revealed a mild eosinophilia in the blood. The histopathologic examination was consistent with eosinophilic granuloma. This is the first paper to report such an uncommon place for an eosinophilic granuloma in a cat, while an association with the ear mite parasitism is proposed.

Key words: cat; eosinophilic granuloma; otodectic mange; tongue.
