in exon 2 of BMP15 gene in goats, Onl J Vet Res., 19
(5): 290-299, 2015.
Mutations in bone
morphogenetic protein-15 (BMP-15) gene can increase ovulation rate and
infertility in sheep. Polymorphisms in BMP15 gene of Najdi and Lori-Bakhtiari goats using
PCR-SSCP is described. 117. From genomic DNA, 235 bp
fragments of exon 2 of BMP15 gene were amplified by PCR with specific primers
and assayed by single stranded conformation polymorphism. AA, BB, FF, DD, EE, AD
and AB genotypes with a frequency of 0.155, 0.167, 0.011, 0.011, 0.123, 0.133
and 0.4 respectively, were detected in Najdi goat and
AA, BB, CC, DD, AD and AB with a frequency of 0.259, 0.075, 0.037, 0.037, 0.185
and 0.407 respectively in Lori baktiari goat. Heterozygosity was 0.533 and 0.593
respectively in Najdi and Lori-Bakhtiari
goats. BMP15 gene is associated with folliculo genesis
in sheep and thus is a candidate gene for litter size in goats.
Key Words: Bone Morphogenetic Protein 15, Goat,
