ABSTRACT
Derakhshesh SM, Zadeh Nava HG, Tajik P, Akbari G., Effect of
epidural naloxone, gonadotropin releasing hormone and calcium gluconate on
progesterone, corpus lutea and estrus in Holstein
cows with follicular cysts, Onl J Vet Res., 19(11):
732-737, 2015.
Groups of 30 dairy cows each with follicular cysts, were given epidural lumbo-sacral 0.8mg naloxone (NX), 100 mcg gondorein
acetate gonadotropin
releasing hormone (GRH) and 3ml Calcium gluconate (Ca2+) 20% (340 mg/ml), NX with GRH, and NX with Ca2+. Controls were administered epidural saline. Greater
progesterone values (P<0.02) and Corpus lutea
(P<0.006) were palpated in cows given NX, GRH and Ca2+ compared with
controls. There was no significant association between treatment
groups and cows pregnant after treatment by first insemination
or with estrus. In contrast, there was significant correlation (r=0.58) between
increased progesterone and number of Corpus lutea.
