ABSTRACT

Bafti MS, Pourbakhsh SA, Ezatkhah M, Ashtari A., 16S rRNA PCR test for Mycoplasma spp in sheep, Onl J Vet Res., 19(9): 704-708, 2015. Mycoplasmas are bacteria without a cell wall which may be pathogenic in humans or animals. Mycoplasma spp. was isolated from milk, conjunctiva, ear lesions and puncture of joint exudate of 70 suspected sheep herds. Mycoplasma was detected by culture and PCR. Mycoplasma spp. were isolated from 14.8% of samples by PCR. Results showed that a swab of an ear lesion could be suitable for isolation of Mycoplasma spp. in sheep.

Key words: Mycoplasma, PCR, 16 rRNA, Sheep.
