ABSTRACT
Abbas AK, Kalef DA, Fadhl AR., Prevalence of Eimeria spp oocysts in draught and racing
horses, Onl J Vet Res., 25 (8):571-576, 2021. Prevalence of Eimeria oocysts in 136 draught and 233 ~equal
gender, racing horses aged < 2 - 12 years old during November 2018 to July
2019 in feces determined by direct and flotation techniques is described. Eimeria oocysts were found in 75 (20.32%) with 30%
in draught and 15% racing horses (p<0.05). We found no differences between gender but found higher incidence during summer
39-44% compared with winter months 23-25%. The highest rate of prevalence, 38.8%, 44.4%, and 38.8%, was recorded in draught horses during Spring and the lowest 23-25%, in Winter
and in race horses 17-28% in summer and 0-12%, in Winter. We also found that in
horses <2 years old prevalence was 0% in draught and 11.11% in race
ones but higher (28.57%) in draught than race horses (14.77%) at 2-4 years old
and 38.89 draught and 13.25% racing ones aged 4-6 years old.
