ABSTRACT

Amer M, Youssef AS, Galal AM, Effects of diminazine on oxytetracycline and creatinine clearance in goats, On J Vet Res.,, 28 (8): 505-513, 2024. Two groups of 5 lactating female ~20kg, 24-32 month Baladi goats were administered 30mg/kg intramuscular oxytetracycline with or without 3.5mg/kg diminazine. Blood was collected at 0, 10, 15, 30 min and 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours for clearance of oxytetracycline, creatinine and creatine kinase. Then intravenous oxytetracycline was given after completion of experiment and washout period and blood and urine taken at 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours for oxytetracycline and creatinine. Compared with oxytetracycline controls, in goats given diminazine, clearance of serum creatinine was ~20-43% lower, urine clearance 22-91% higher and creatine kinase ~40-63% higher (P < 0.0001). Diminazine boosted plasma clearance of creatine kinase 56% (P < 0.004).
