ABSTRACT
Katsoulos PD, Christodoulopoulos
G. A rare clinical presentation of digital dermatitis in a dairy cow, Onl J Vet Res., 12 (2):5-8, 2008. A rare
case of digital dermatitis in a primiparous Holstein
cow is described. Initially, a painful erosive lesion at the skin of the
posterior aspect of the inner digit of the right hind-limb, above the heel bulb
was observed and was classified as a digital dermatitis lesion. Five months
later, a linear proliferative-type lesion that started from the skin of the
posterior aspect of the inner digit of the right hind-limb above the heel bulb
and, following the axial surface of the digit, penetrated into the hoof of the
sole, just in front of the heel bulb was observed. This condition was
successfully treated with injectable ceftiofur, oxytetracyclin spray topically for seven days
and the application of a wooden block to the sound claw.
