ABSTRACT
Hameed BK, Younis LS,
Ibraheem AH., Effect of oral potassium dichromate on
ovaries and testes of Sprague Dawley rats, Onl J Vet
Res 23 (1):50-55, 2019. Authors report effect of 24mg/kg potassium
dichromate gavaged daily for 20 days on testes and ovaries
of immature Sprague Dawley rats. Rats were sacrificed at day 20 and organ
tissues prepared by standard histology for microscopy and results compared with
untreated rodent tissue. The treatments induced necrosis and atrophy of seminiferous
tubules with edema in the interstitial tissue of testis. In females, we
detected lack of development and atrophy of follicles, hemorrhage and pyknosis
in Leydig cells.
Key words : Potassium
