F, Hemmati S., Diagnosis of cutaneous melanomas and squamous cell carcinomas in horse
and cattle by staining antigens, Onl J Vet Res., 27(9):
508-515, 2023. Authors
describe histopathology of cutaneous melanoma and squamous cell carcinoma in
horses and cattle by hematoxylin eosin, fontana-masson
silver, immune S-100 and HMB45 antigen stains. In 6 of
9 melanomas, S-100 protein and HMB45 stain were positive whereas by Fontana-Masson
silver and melanin bleaching, all tumors were positive. However 3 of 4 squamous
cell carcinomas were negative to all tests. Diagnosis of suspicious melanoma
tumor cases should be confirmed or reconfirmed by special staining methods or
immunohistochemistry.
Key words:
Melanoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, HMB45 antigen, S-100 protein, Immunohistochemical.
