ABSTRACT

Ghazy AA, Ghazi YA, Mahmoud KG, Farghaly AA., Incidence of Chromosomal aberrations in buffalo with brucellosis and cattle with tuberculosis, Onl J Vet Res., 28(7): 395-404, 2024. Of 84 buffaloes suffering from abortions, repeat breeding and infertility we selected 10 Brucella positive and negative reactors by serological examination for chromosomal aberrations. To confirm tuberculosis, 50 cows were tested by single cervical and caudal fold tuberculin intradermal tests and milk culture of which 9 positive and 9 negative controls were selected for chromosomal analysis confirmed by milk culture. Chromosomal structural aberrations were found to be more frequent in buffaloes with brucellosis (5.40 ± 0.72) or cattle with tuberculosis (5.55 ± 0.52), than in non-infected controls (2.20 ± 0.45) and (3.11 ± 0.60), respectively. Chromosomal abnormalities may be implicated in the pathogenesis of brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis.
