ABSTRACT
Badiei K, Ghane M, Mostaghni K., Prevalence of bovine viral diarrhea virus
antibodies in industrial dairy cattle, Onl J Vet
Res., 28
(11): 808-811, 2024. We report
prevalence of bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) by ELISA in 952 unvaccinated
industrial dairy cattle. We found 573 or ~69% of 952 samples were positive.
However after correction for OD >0.20 only 379 (39.8%) were positive but
true prevalence for virus was ~60%. All herds had antibody with prevalence of
37 to 86%. Sero-positivity
increased with age and parity with 1 parity and <2 years lower than others
(P < 0.05) but not between others. We found no effect of herd size or milk
yield. We find that high prevalence in
our study was likely due
persistent infection by bovine viral diarrhea virus.
