Mutations of exon 2 in bone morphogenetic protein-15 gene and fertility in
goats, Onl J Vet Res., 27 (3): 139-145, 2023. We report
polymorphisms of BMP15 gene and fertility in goats by PCR- polymerase chain reaction-single-strand
conformation polymorphism (SSCP). One hundred seventeen genomic DNA samples
were obtained from Najdi and Lori-Bakhtiari
goats. Genomic DNA was extracted for 235 bp fragments
of exon 2 of BMP15 gene amplified by PCR with specific primers assayed by
single stranded conformation polymorphism. In Nadji
goat we found polymorphisms with genotypes AA with frequency of 0.155, BB
0.167, FF 0.011, DD 0.011, EE 0.123, AD 0.133 and AB frequency of 0.4 whereas
in Lori Bakhtiari these values were AA frequency of
0.259, BB 0.075, CC 0.037, DD 0.037, AD 0.185 and AB frequency of 0.407. Heterozygosity in Nadji
goats was 0.533 and Lori Bakhtiari 0.593. We find
that BMP15 gene folliculogenesis may be associated
with litter size of these goats.
