Purification of ISS protein from avian pathogenic Escherichia coli strain
χ1378 by affinity chromatography, Onl J Vet
Res., 18(5): 391-397, 2014. Colibacillosis due
to avian pathogenic Escherichia coli affects poultry worlwide.
A major virulence factor is increased serum survival (ISS) gene resistant to
the complement system. ISS protein of virulent E coli from avian colibacillosis was
expressed and purified using gene specific primers to generate a 359 bp product. ISS protein was analyzed by SDS-PAGE, affinity
chromatography and Xa factor for purification and
separation of the recombinant protein. SDS-PAGE and western blot analyzes
confirmed purity and antigenicity of the protein showing a
8 kDa band protein.
