ABSTRACT
Tajik J, Nazifi S, Abbasi F., Serum
protein, haptoglobin and amyloid A levels in cattle
with liver telangiectasis, Onl
J Vet Res., 18(3):
201-207, 2014. Serum
haptoglobin (Hp), amyloid A
(SAA), and protein levels in cows with hepatic telangiectasis
were evaluated. Livers of 435 cattle were examined after slaughter and telangiectasis was diagnosed in 6 female 4-5 year-old cows.
Serum values were then compared with 18 non-affected controls. Serum total
protein, Hp, SAA, β- globulin, γ- globulin,
total globulin, albumin, α-globulin, and albumin/globulin ratios and
β- globulin levels were not statistically significant (p>0.05) between
groups. The results suggest that serum
protein levels have limited or no value for diagnosis of hepatic telangiectasis in cows.
Key words: Haptoglobin, Serum amyloid A, Electrophoresis,
Liver telangiectasis, Cattle.
