ABSTRACT
Ghaem S, Ghazal K., Effect of Trachyspermum
ammi seed on
growth of Ross-308 broilers, Onl J Vet Res., 29 (2): 76-84,
2025. Three goups of
40 day old Ross-308 broiler chicks were supplemented 5 (0.5%), 10 (1%) or
20g/kg (2%) Trachyspermum ammi Ajowan
seed powder. Controls were not given Ajowan
and antibiotic controls fed 0.5% salinomycin. Feed
intake, daily live weight gain and feed conversion ratio were compared with controls
and antibiotic. Our results suggest that compared with controls 1% ajowan supplement enhanced (P 0.05) feed intake 4-8% and 2%
boosted it by ~6-13% whereas weight gain increased (P < 0.05) 11-19% by 2% Ajowan and 9-14% by 0.5% salinomycin.
Compared with controls, food conversion was enhanced (P < 0.05) 7-8% by 2%
Ajowan supplement or 0.5% salinomycin.
Key-words: Trachyspernum, supplement, broilers.
