ABSTRACT
Kazemipour N, Maghsoodlou MT, Soleymani BG., Gas chromatographic analysis of compounds in
Yarrow Achillea millefolium
and Achillea nobili
essential oils, Onl J Vet Res., 19(12): 808-812, 2015. Achillea is a member of
Asteraceae used to treat wounds, sores, rashes, fever
and respiratory infections. We report compounds in essential oil of Achillea millefolium and
A. nobilis
as detected by gas chromatography. Plants were dried, powdered and
hydro-distilled, and oils then analyzed by Gas chomatrography/MS.
Analysis detected 21 compounds in A millefolium with viridifloral
(0.7%), and 1,8-cineole (0.7%) as major components and A. nobilis with 19 of which α-thujone (2.3%) was a main component. Conversely β-cedrene epoxide was not found nor any sesquiterpens.
Key-Words:
